Pop’s Seafood Shack & Grill

Headed to the South Shore of Long Island this summer? Chances are, you’re going to work up an appetite visiting all the major attractions of this scenic area.

Take a break and head over to Pop’s Seafood Shack & Grill, one of the best places to grab a bite to eat on Long Island.

What is Pop’s Seafood Shack & Grill?

Located in Island Park, this restaurant offers casual waterfront dining and entertainment to visitors and lifelong residents of the South Shore alike. The vision of the Pop’s founders was to provide fantastic food, outstanding service, and great entertainment, all with a unique casual ambiance.

Pop’s Seafood Shack & Grill has an indoor dining room, a beach area, and a covered outdoor deck. There’s even a fire pit lounge outside, which is a great place to relax with a drink and chat with friends.

What’s on the Menu?

The easier question to ask would be what’s not on the menu. While this restaurant specializes in seafood dishes, like a wide variety of steam pot mussels, clams, and oysters for your to choose from, they also have landlocked specialties like chicken, tacos, and five different types of corn on the cob.

The restaurant has an affordable menu, with regular drinks and dinner specials that make it easy to find the perfect meal – regardless of your budget. Make sure you try out the restaurant’s signature lobster rolls, which are a local favorite. If you’re in a hurry, Pop’s also has “Sail Away” meals that boaters can purchase to go.

What are the Hours?

Pop’s is open seven days a week from May to September, serving both lunch and dinner. Of course, you’re welcome to stop by Pop’s for just a drink or to take in a live concert, too. There’s plenty of music and dancing, and you can visit by either land or sea. The restaurant has free parking and there are also 40 boat slips with free docking, too. Additional docking is also available next door at the Apache Yacht Club, a sister company of Pop’s.

How Do You Get There?

Pop’s Seafood Shack & Grill is easy to find. You can get there by boat, car, or even the Long Island Railroad. It’s an easy ride from other towns in Nassau like Mineola, Lynbrook, or Levittown.

If you’re traveling by car, the restaurant is located directly off Austin Boulevard, which is often referred to as Long Beach Road. It’s at the northwest foot of the Long Beach bridge in Island Park. If a boat is your preferred method of transportation, the restaurant is just four nautical miles west of Jones Inlet and three from East of Rockaway Inlet.

What Do People Have to Say?

According to reviews on Yelp and Tripadvisor, Pop’s is a great place to unwind after a long day at the beach. The service is exceptional, and even waiting for a table – a usually miserable experience – is pleasant at Pop’s. While you do usually need to wait, the waits are worth it, as there are plenty of spots to grab a drink while you do so.

This restaurant is highly recommended for its food, location, and service – and as one Yelp user says, “don’t forget to order one of their mussel pots – it is delicious!”
